EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
Our Network Control team have an opportunity for you to join as our new Waste Operational Control Centre SME on a 12 month basis.
The OCC is a Operational Control Centre.
This role provides technical expertise to support to the Waste OCC teams to drive improved performance in key ODIs - in particular pollution incidents. One of your key responsibilities will be to ensure Waste OCC systems are optimised, processes are fully mapped and they align to meet the business needs.
You’ll be a key individual for Waste OCC and wider Network Control and be involved in workforce planning and optimisation.
Some of your other key accountabilities will include:
- Develop a Waste OCC Quality Management system, complete with training material and standard operating procedures, both within the department & E2E systems which we play a part of.
- Ensure information on our systems are hardwired into our technical training framework, updating SOPs and process maps and that the training information the Academy use for training is fully aligned.
- Ensure all Waste OCC processes have a clear RACI and mapped interfaces. This will include both our BAU core processes and Incident Management.
- Own the review and implementation of an improved Waste Incident Manual, taking key learnings from past events and developing robust post-incident review processes.
- Understand the requirements around other key strategic projects/AMP8 schemes, to ensure the needs and requirements of Waste OCC are considered within the schemes (eg. Waste Network Visualisation, River Quality Monitors).
- Own regular audits and root cause analysis to provide assurance to our waste operational colleagues and regulators.
- Identify process improvements and opportunities to work smarter, in a more standardised & compliant manner.
- Develop future business cases for further service offerings within Waste OCC.
- Coach and develop other team members to ensure compliance and standard ways of working.
- Take the lead on process changes within Waste OCC. This will be both from identifying continuous improvement opportunities & by supporting change programmes within the wider business as the Waste OCC SME (eg. Spills improvements, Waste Networks transformation projects, Storm Harvester implementation).
- Where appropriate the role holder will be required to support incident and event management and if required would be expected to run shifts managing controller and or incident management processes.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
In order to be successful in this role it is expected you’ll an understanding of Waste Water systems and associated legislation. This includes working with both Infra & non-infra networks and a good working knowledge of the systems involved & the data links required to add value.
You will also have an experience of data analysis, producing management information and be able to demonstrate how you have transformed business information needs into valuable deliverables;
