Contracts Performance Lead

Want to do the best work of your life? Playing your part in making a big difference to the environment and communities we serve. Our people make Severn Trent a truly exciting and inclusive place to work – a place where you can be yourself and let your skills shine.

Our purpose is taking care of life’s essentials, but we’re also big on making a difference, not just because we should but because we care.

With that in mind, at Severn Trent, we are embarking on our largest capital investment programme yet, ensuring we continue to deliver outstanding services to our customers. To support this, we are looking for a Contract Performance & Risk Manager to lead and enhance the performance of our land and planning supply chain.

This new role for AMP8 is crucial for the successful delivery of consultancy services, encompassing the use of statutory powers to access land, land acquisition, planning applications, environmental impact assessments, and a broad range of land and planning-related technical services to the business.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

In this new role, you will take ownership of supply chain performance and appointments, ensuring that key metrics and service delivery standards are met. You will monitor and report on KPIs, identify trends, and drive corrective actions as needed. Additionally, you will play a key role in risk management, proactively addressing any emerging issues, such as developing contingency plans.

You will also be pivotal in managing the allocation of work to suppliers, ensuring that resources are available and that the most appropriate supplier is appointed based on a decision matrix. Furthermore, you will lead on bids where appointments are allocated by submissions rather than direct awards, ensuring a fair and competitive process.

Collaboration is at the heart of this role. You will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, influencing improvements and driving efficiencies. Your insights will shape business decisions, ensuring that our supply chain delivers effectively and sustainably.

As this is a new role, you will have the opportunity to shape and mould how things function and operate, making significant changes in the way we work. This could include introducing new technologies or methodologies to enhance supply chain visibility and performance.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

We are looking for someone with a strong background in contract and supply chain management, preferably in technical or professional services. The ideal candidate will be capable of managing a business service request system to triage these requests and allocate them appropriately to the supply chain.

You should be comfortable working with data management and digital reporting, using insights to drive performance improvements. If you have a track record of identifying risks, implementing mitigation measures, and challenging existing processes, we’d love to hear from you!

Confidence and proactivity are essential, as you will need to engage in difficult conversations and drive change effectively and hold the supply chain to account. – but don’t worry if you don’t have this, as we’re looking for the right mindset as much as the experience.

The successful candidate will ideally possess some or all of the following skills:

  • Analytical Skills: Ability to monitor and report on KPIs, identify trends, and drive data-led decisions.
  • Proactive Risk Management: Capability to proactively address emerging issues and develop contingency plans.
  • Decision-Making: Skill in managing the allocation of work to suppliers using a decision matrix.

  • Influencing Skills: Confidence to influence improvements and drive efficiencies.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to shape and mould how things function and operate, introducing new technologies or methodologies.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to work at both a strategic and reactive level, solving problems and keeping projects on track.
  • Innovation: A mindset geared towards enhancing efficiency and delivering sustainable results.

Other desirable, but no essential attributes includes:

  • Technical skills with Microsoft Office 365 applications, including SharePoint, Microsoft Lists, Forms, Power BI, and Power Automate.
  • Experience in the water industry or utilities sector, along with knowledge of delivering land access and land acquisition infrastructure projects.
