EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Severn Trent has pledged within their River Water Quality Monitoring programme to install 1000 water quality monitors by the year 2030 as part of its AMP 8 plans to help us better understand how we care for our rivers.


With that in mind we are looking for a highly skilled and passionate Compliance Specialist to join our Water Quality & Environment team.


In this role, you’ll act as the team’s senior technical expert - driving high
quality regulatory reporting, improving compliance processes, and shaping how we meet evolving environmental expectations.

Some of your key accountabilities will include:

  • Lead in year verification, assurance and high standard reporting of river quality monitor data


  • Analyse complex datasets using Power BI and Excel, identifying trends, risks and opportunities

 

  • Translate regulatory requirements into clear, actionable guidance for operational teams

 

  • Build strong relationships with regulators (EA, NRW, Ofwat) and internal stakeholders


  • Develop and maintain compliance dashboards and reporting processes

 

  • Drive continuous improvement, influencing teams across the business to enhance standards

 

 

 

 

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for an engaging, organised individual  – qualified to degree level or hold a minimum three years’ experience in a relevant field - capable of building credibility and confidence in order to succeed within the role.


You’ll have excellent communication skills, take an innovative approach to problem solving and be able to take ownership of solutions from concept to implementation.



The below would be essential to being successful in this role:

  • Strong experience in regulatory reporting, audit environments and external assurance

  • Advanced analytical capability with expertise in Microsft Excel and Power BI

  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly and influence at all level


  • Familiarity with environmental permitting and regulatory frameworks

  • Knowledge of river monitoring data, operational waste processes, or systems such as SAP, eSCADA would be desirable

 

 

Due to the operational nature of the team and work required, travel is expected across the region and therefore a full UK driving license is necessary.
