EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
We’re looking for a Financial Business Planning Analyst to play a key role in shaping and embedding our AMP8 business planning programme. This is an exciting opportunity to help transform the way we plan and deliver our annual and five‑year investment programmes, supporting a £13bn AMP8 investment that is efficient, strategically aligned, and flexible enough to respond to new opportunities.
You’ll sit at the heart of our planning activity, working across finance and the wider business to ensure strong cost control, robust governance, and a clear link between long‑term financial plans and the operational drivers behind them. Your work will directly inform the organisation’s long‑term strategic financial plan through to 2030.
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you’ll help evolve our financial models to better connect financial forecasts with underlying volumetric data, such as people, energy consumption and chemical usage. By bringing financial and non‑financial data together, you’ll identify opportunities to increase revenue, reduce costs, and drive efficiency across the Group.
Working closely with the Group FP&A team and the cost transformation function, you’ll ensure seamless alignment between in‑year reporting, rolling forecasts, and medium‑term plans. You’ll also support strong governance and oversight of our £13bn AMP8 programme, helping the business deliver its outcomes with confidence and control.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing elements of the totex (total opex and capex) programme to understand run rates, volumetric drivers and price assumptions through to 2030.
- Supporting the annual business planning process and development of a rolling five‑year financial plan, with clear visibility of risks and opportunities.
- Taking part in the central ownership of budget target pricing for key cost drivers, including chemicals, energy, headcount, commodities and unit costs (£/megalitre).
- Identifying efficiency opportunities to feed into the cost transformation agenda.
- Mapping the totex plan to activities and outputs, ensuring our financial plans support delivery of key business outcomes.
- Supporting governance arrangements to maintain full oversight of the £13bn five‑year plan.
- Partnering with commercial and operational teams to understand, challenge and strengthen long‑term financial plans.
