We have an opportunity for you to join our Finance team as an Assistant Accountant on a 6 month fixed term contract (possibility of extension)
 


This role reports directly to the Cost Transformation team and will be responsible for reconciling the “Goods Receipt Not Invoiced” report, identifying process inefficiencies, and providing recommendations for data cleansing and improvement.

Additionally, the role will support the cleansing of vendor master data and purchase order records, playing a key part in preparing for the implementation of our new ERP system

 

Some of your other key accountabilities will include: 

  • Review ageing GRNI (goods receipt not invoiced) report and perform root cause analysis for purchase orders without an invoice. Complex and difficult reconciliation work will be involved and require a high level of skills.
  • Conduct process review for vendors with significant aged GRNI balances.
  • Prepare problem statements and recommendations for process failures identified.
  • Provide GRNI clearance recommendations of aged GRNI balance to Finance 250+ vendor reconciliations (>£5M)
  • Review and provide recommendations to update / deactivate vendor master data records.
  • Review and provide recommendations to close aged open purchase orders.
  • Produce data analysis, KPI’s and PPIs to support process improvement recommendations as required.

WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR


To succeed in this role, candidates should bring extensive experience in reconciling large and complex transactional data, with a strong understanding of accounts payable, purchase orders, and goods receipting processes.

 

Proven ability to work with high volumes of data, cleanse master records, and deliver insightful analytics is essential. 

 

A solid grasp of Procurement and Finance functions, along with a track record of diagnosing and resolving issues, is key. 

 

Candidates should demonstrate analytical strength, clear communication, and the ability to credibly advise and challenge constructively. While accountancy or procurement qualifications are preferred, extensive hands-on experience in managing AP ledgers and performing reconciliation work, particularly with an understanding of goods receipting and double-entry is equally valued

 

Proficiency in MS Office, Excel, SAP ECC, and Ariba is essential
