Apprenticeship Programmes are a great way to earn and learn! Our Apprentice Bid & Proposals Coordinator Programme offers the perfect blend of personal and professional development, exposing you to the core of our business.
You’ll be supported every step of the way. Your role will be to gain practical experience in a few teams developing your knowledge and understanding of Severn Trent and the processes.
All of this will allow you to further develop your skills so you can communicate data effectively to a wide variety of stakeholders. Furthermore, you'll spend time with our Business Development Team; you’ll play a key role in supporting external bids and tenders for the Public Sector market. You’ll help identify major opportunities, engage with potential customers and colleagues and contribute to the creation of high-quality, winning proposals.

HOW WILL THE PROGRAMME WORK?
You will be based at the Severn Trent Centre in Coventry, the heart of our patch. The programme requires you to gain exposure in different areas of the department so that you are equipped with the right skills to build your career here at Severn Trent.
In this exciting programme, you will have the chance to discuss your development and career ambitions in your 1-1 meetings with business leads, mentors, a study buddy, the cohort leader, and the New Talent Team.
As part of this apprenticeship, you will be studying towards a Level 3 Bid and Proposal qualification. You can find more information about this qualification (known as a standard) by following this link. We encourage you to read this additional information before applying.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
You will expand your knowledge of:
- Bid Management & Proposal Development
- Understanding the full lifecycle of bids and tenders.
- Learning how to structure and write compelling proposals.
- Exposure to compliance and governance requirements for public sector bids.
- Project & Process Management
- Managing timelines, deliverables, and workflows.
- Using bid management tools and systems.
- Coordinating with multiple stakeholders across departments.
- Commercial Awareness
- Gaining insight into the water and wastewater industry.
- Understanding pricing strategies and value propositions.
- Learning how large-scale contracts are negotiated and delivered.
- Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
- Developing professional communication skills.
- Building relationships with internal teams and external clients.
- Learning persuasive writing and presentation techniques.
- Market & Customer Insight
- Researching public sector procurement processes and frameworks.
- Identifying trends and opportunities in the utilities market.
- Understanding customer needs and how to tailor solutions.
- Technical & Industry Knowledge
- Learning about water and wastewater treatment processes.
- Understanding sustainability and regulatory considerations.
- Exposure to innovative technologies in the sector.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
Our New Talent Team will guide you and support you every step of the way. Furthermore, your line manager, mentor and graduate buddy will be there to help you in making sure you reach your full potential here at Severn Trent.

Apprenticeship Duration: 24 months (this does not include EPA period)
Starting Salary: £22,500
Entry Criteria: Maths and English GCSE at grade 4/C are required for this role.
Driving Requirements: There are no driving requirements for this role
You will be working 37 hours per week Monday to Friday, across a 8am – 4pm/9am - 5pm working pattern.
