Alongside this, one of your core responsibilities will me to demonstrate an effective, collaborative working relationship with our Bioresources Division and other stakeholders such as the Environmental Agency.

Our purpose is to serve our communities and build a lasting water legacy and this role plays a vital part in that. Your additional responsibilities will include:

  • Proactively Operate and maintain all waste assets on site

This role will be based at Minworth which is Severn Trent’s largest STW serving a population equivalent of 1.9 million. Minworth is also the contingency for a number of smaller STW across the region, with flows transferred via the Black Country Trunk Sewer (BCTS).

The Minworth site also contains a designated hazardous landfill site, which is subject to an environmental permit and associated monitoring and reporting requirements to demonstrate compliance. The Minworth site is also host to a number of departments across the business, resulting in an increased volume of traffic movement across the site, particularly associated with certain incidents and events.

The WWR team at Minworth is a core team of 26, comprising operator, maintainer, apprentice, graduate and management roles, and including a shift team covering the whole site on a 24/7 rota.

It is expected that you will have a proven track record in managing, leading and inspiring teams in a customer-focused operational environment as well as experience of dealing with complex employee relations and performance issues.

You’ll need demonstratable experience in leading teams through periods of change and the ability to work to targets, to work under pressure and in emergency situations.

The successful candidate should have good knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and associated performance metrics and knowledge of regulatory requirements and procedures.

It goes without saying that to be successful in this role, you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, problem solving ability, and good organisational skills.

As well as the experience detailed above, it’s important you’re able to display some core competency skills that are critical to the role. These include, but are not limited to:

  • The ability to lead and inspire diverse teams by providing clear direction, setting appropriate standards of behaviour and motivating and empowering others.
  • Good analytical, facilitation and problem solving skills with the ability to understand Management Information and solve problems on a daily basis.

It is expected that the successful candidate will hold a WAMITAB qualification or agree to working towards gaining one upon being appointed into the role. Travel to sites will be essential for this role and therefore a full UK driving license will be required.

The right skills and experience are important. But if you have the right character, positivity, and a caring attitude we want to talk to you too.

We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality as we know diverse minds, experiences and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our communities. We want people who show up and get involved. Those who are ready to be part of something bigger and who want to make a difference because they care. Is that you?
