Hub Process Scientist

Which is why we are excited to announce an exciting opportunity. Do you want to work in a high performing team of process experts? If so, we’re looking for a Hub Process Scientist to join our team at our office in Minworth, Birmingham.

The Treatment Process Hub are a team of motivated, engaged, friendly Process Scientists with a talent for data analysis. We use these skills daily to drive improvement and inform science-based decisions for the water, wastewater and engineering functions of the business.  If you are looking for an exciting opportunity to work in a fast paced, cross functional team this could be the role for you.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW 

In this role, you’ll work within a multi-disciplinary team of process experts to enable proactive working through better information and insights for the wider business, including field Process Scientists, Tactical Asset Planning, Strategic Asset Planning and Treatment Process Engineering.

Acting as a bridge between Operations and Chief Engineer, you’ll highlight emerging risks to site compliance and the asset base, while identifying trends that help inform future investment decisions. You will also improve understanding of works’ performance metrics, identify risks to prevent performance deterioration and spot opportunities for optimisation and process improvement. By sharing insight and knowledge gained, you’ll help drive improved regulatory compliance and support the transition from reactive to proactive working across the business.

The key accountabilities of this role will include:

  • Managing performance data and utilising new systems to streamline reporting processes while providing enhanced insight. You will also maximise the value of innovative data gathering and analysis methods as they are introduced into the business.
  • Taking a holistic view of site performance to identify risks, mitigations and opportunities for improvement. You will proactively investigate process deterioration, analyse trends and present findings to stakeholders to influence positive change.
  • Working closely with operational teams to support compliance performance, using data and insights to identify emerging risks and help prevent further deterioration in process performance.
  • Owning centralised activities to ensure consistency across Treatment Process and contributing to a more proactive approach to compliance across the business.
  • Driving business improvement through Treatment Process initiatives, including supporting areas such as ICA strategy, BI reporting requirements and policy development. You will act as an ambassador for the Treatment Process Hub.

 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE  

Apart from being a great fit for the team, you'll have excellent technical and process knowledge of Water Treatment, supported by strong communication and influencing skills. You’ll be experienced in building effective relationships and collaborating with stakeholders at all levels across the organisation, with the ability to prioritise, plan and deliver outputs to challenging timescales.

 

You’ll also have excellent analytical skills, capable of interpreting and rationalising data from a variety of sources to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement. In addition, you’ll have comprehensive to advanced IT skills across a range of systems and software, including Word, Excel, SAP, Cognos, QUIS, ESCADA and Minitab.

You’ll have a suitable science or engineering degree, or demonstrable equivalent expertise, is desirable.


As this role requires travel, you must hold a full UK Driving License. This role is predominantly office based with some travel to sites and other offices expected. It covers both Severn Trent and Hafren Dyfrdwy.
