Bioresources Performance & Insights Lead

LET’S CUT STRAIGHT TO IT

At Severn Trent, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We’re in the top 5% of utility companies worldwide for employee engagement, and we’re equally proud of our strong Glassdoor score — reflecting how much our people love working here. Join us to make a positive impact on the environment and our communities, while being valued and supported in a truly inclusive workplace.

If you want to do more, because you care, we want you on our team.

LET’S TELL YOU MORE

Join our Bioresources team as a Performance & Insights Lead, where you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping how we measure, understand and improve what matters most. In this permanent role, you’ll be responsible for driving the delivery and continuous improvement of key performance metrics across Bioresources, ensuring regulatory reporting requirements are met with confidence and clarity.

You’ll create a transparent and auditable approach to reporting for Ofwat and the Environment Agency, while using existing data and insights to help operational teams prioritise actions and deliver meaningful improvements.

You’ll lead the development of a robust performance framework and operating rhythm that supports strong Safety, Environmental, People and TOTEX outcomes. Working closely with Business Leaders and Team Managers, you’ll deliver and embed performance and operational change across Bioresources—reducing performance variability, improving productivity, and strengthening health, safety and wellbeing, engagement, systems and support services.

Collaboration will be key, as you partner with Waste Water Recycling, Capital and Commercial Services and other teams to resolve operational challenges, drive service delivery and ensure improvements are consistently implemented, monitored and sustained.

You’ll be based at our Minworth Sewage Treatment Works in Sutton Coldfield but will need to travel across our region so a valid UK driving license is essential. With this being such a critical role, we’re looking for someone who can join us 37 hours a week, working Monday to Friday 07:30 – 15:30.

HOW WE WORK

You’ll join a caring culture that collaborates to achieve, grow, and develop. Our employee engagement scores are among the highest globally in energy and utilities. That’s why we value in-person moments to keep our culture alive but also understand the flexibility working from home can bring. You’ll usually find us in the office, but working from home is supported when you need it.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Our ideal candidate is confident and comfortable working with Microsoft 365 and Power BI, using data as a foundation but always looking beyond the numbers to understand what’s really happening operationally. You’ll be naturally curious, keen to challenge the status quo and motivated to turn insight into practical action. With experience gained in a large, complex field operations environment, you’ll understand how performance frameworks translate into real-world delivery and how to support teams to focus on the right priorities at the right time.

You’ll bring proven experience of leading and sustaining performance improvements across a diverse workforce, with the communication skills to simplify complex ideas so they are immediately clear, engaging and actionable for others. You think differently, enjoy exploring innovative approaches and aren’t afraid to try new things to achieve better outcomes. Collaborative, open-minded and resilient, you’ll inspire trust at all levels while driving meaningful, lasting change across Bioresources.

Skills and experience are important, but character, positivity, and a caring attitude matter too. We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality, as we know diverse minds, experiences and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our communities. We’re looking for people who want to get involved, be part of something bigger, and make a difference because they care.
